Do you feel a persistent hum beneath the surface, a low-grade static in your very being? It’s a whisper, sometimes a shout, that something isn’t quite right—not with the world, but within you. This profound sense of disconnection, like watching your life from behind glass or feeling like a stranger in your own skin, is the echo of past experiences, the reverberation of trauma and insidious patterns of addiction, settled deep in your bones. It manifests as jaw clenching, shoulder tension, a racing heart, chronic fatigue, or sudden anxiety. This isn't just discomfort; it's a profound disconnect costing you your authentic self, your peace, and your vitality.
This book delves into trauma's pervasive grip, revealing how your body remembers and stores shock, fear, and helplessness. It explains why your nervous system might be stuck in "on" mode, perpetually scanning for danger. You'll discover how this constant physiological alert exhausts your reserves, creating internal chaos that impacts everything from digestion to your immune system. Whether you experience numbness or hypervigilance, Echoes In Your Bones illuminates the biological reality behind your physical symptoms—from headaches and IBS to fibromyalgia—as your body's desperate attempts to communicate what your mind has suppressed.
Beyond the physical, this journey explores how trauma and addiction hijack your identity, convincing you that the anxious, withdrawn, or numb person you've become is who you truly are. It uncovers how societal pressures to be "less emotional" or "strong" compound this internal struggle, forcing you to hide parts of yourself and perform an identity that sacrifices authenticity for perceived safety. For those whose authentic self, including gender identity, diverges from societal expectations, this book acknowledges the immense weight of alienation and the daily battle to exist as who you are.
Echoes In Your Bones offers a compassionate guide to understanding and healing these deep-seated wounds. Through its pages, you will learn to reclaim your body's narrative, moving beyond the "too much" to find power in your own story. You'll explore the alchemy of laughter, discover the strength in asking for support, and unpack the labels that define your diagnosis versus your destiny. This book empowers you to embrace your authentic self, sustain your recovery and growth, and find profound power in community.
Embark on this transformative journey to:
- Reclaim your vitality and inner peace.
- Understand and soothe your nervous system, breaking free from constant alert.
- Discover your true identity beyond the shadows of past pain and addiction.
- Cultivate genuine self-acceptance and self-compassion.
- Build resilient relationships and a strong, supportive network.
- Experience sustained healing and profound personal growth.
- Live a life guided by your inner purpose, not by the echoes of the past.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
