Ecology and Consciousness: Traditional Wisdom on the Environment Second Edition (Io Series, No. 45)

Rather than describe aspects of our global dilemma and pose interpretations and solutions, Ecology and Consciousness brings together a medley of voices crying out in Earth song. Some of them are sonorous, some of them shrill, some of them fully, some of them outrageous--all of them our paradox of consciousness in nature. Contributors include Gary Snyder, Knud Rasmussen, Roy A. Rappaport, Rinpoche Chogyan Trungpa, and Jacques Valle.

A graduate of Amherst College, Richard Grossinger received a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Michigan, writing an ethnography of fishing in Maine. He is the author of many books, a portion of which is listed below:

Planet Medicine
Embryos, Galaxies, and Sentient Beings
Embryogenesis: Species, Gender, and Identity
Homeopathy: The Great Riddle
New Moon
Out of Babylon: Ghosts of Grossinger's

He and his wife Lindy Hough are the founding publishers of North Atlantic Books in Berkeley, California.
