ABOUT THE BOOK:- The present study has been undertaken to examine the nature and extent of relationship between economic development and environment in an international as well as Indian context. The study is based on an appropriate theories, concepts, tools and techniques. A very clear relationship between economic development and environmental quality has been found in most of the cases of environmental indicators. Many environmental indicators have positive relationship with economic development and others have negative relationship. Also some environmental indicators have non linear i.e. inverted U type relationship. The study also identifies the factors underlying relationship between economic development and environment and provides policy suggestions for bringing about more balanced and sustainable economic development.
