Economic viability of selective waste collection and composting: Municipality of Guaratinguet?, state of S?o Paulo, Brazil

Is selective collection efficient in my municipality? What income can be obtained from reusing the materials? Is composting economically viable? What are the savings generated by this type of solid waste treatment? Through detailed analysis, this book offers a practical way to calculate and evaluate the local economic viability of selective collection and composting of municipal solid waste. The main studies and parameters used to prepare this work were diagnoses of the services provided and how they are carried out, the classification of recyclable waste according to the ABC Curve method and the planning of activities to improve the efficiency of existing public cleaning services. Using real data from the Brazilian municipality of Guaratinguetá - SP, the book provides examples of the improvements needed in solid waste management, following the guidelines of Federal Law No. 11.455/07 and Federal Law No. 12.305/10, which establish Brazilian sanitation regulations and the national policy on urban solid waste.
