Eddy's Day Out: An Exploratory Tale at the Detroit Institute of Arts

Eddy, a dog who loves a good adventure, visits the Detroit Institute of Arts with friends.

Meet Eddy, a curious dog with a nose for adventure! Children will delight in Eddie as he befriends a group of children waiting to board a school bus destined for the Detroit Institute of Arts, plays follow-the-leader, enjoys a class of figure drawing, discovers great paintings, and heads home to find himself on a “lost dog” poster.

Marie Schmidt, a preschool teacher and mother of three, minored in art while earning a degree in early childhood education. Raised near Detroit, she developed a love for art through classes and visits to the Detroit Institute of Arts. Inspired by a true story about her parents' dog, Eddy, she wrote her first book in hopes of encouraging children to explore art, storytelling, and the museum she first loved. She lives in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, with her family and two dogs.
