About the Author

Lucy Jane King, MD, is a clinical professor of psychiatry emerita at Indiana University of Medicine and a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. She is the author of From Under the Cloud at Seven Steeples, 1878 1885: The Peculiarly Saddened Life of Anna Agnew at the Indiana Hospital for the Insane. Dr. Alan Schmetzer is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine. He has served in various positions over his careet tht have placed him within the central convergence of much of the fascinating history detailed in this book.
