Four of five volumes ONLY. Missing volume II. 19 of 20 folding plates. Leather covers are very worn, and completely deteriorated over spines. Library presentation plate affixed to front paste down of all volumes. Inked name stamp at top corner of front end page of all volumes. Occasional inked marginalia. Vol. I: Both boards are detached, as are front end page and half title page, but present. Inked notations on front end page. Scattered fairly light foxing. Vol. III: Both boards are detached, along with rear end page. Light scattered foxing. Moisture stains along bottom edges. Vol IV: Front board is detached. Top edge of first five leaves is chipped, though not affecting text. Scattered light foxing. Moisture stains along bottom edges of text. Seven folding plates showing medical instruments and tools. Plates are intact, though show moderate foxing and stains. Vol. V: Front board is missing, and rear board is detached. Scattered light foxing, and some moisture stains. 12 Folding plates including extra-uterine conceptions, abortion, "monsters" (Siamese twins), club-feet, instruments, fetus, and instrumental removal of fetus. Plate 7, showing the pelvic bones, is badly damaged, and partially missing. There is some foxing, and mild to moderate moisture stains on many of the plates. A few of the plates show small closed tears, and there is some chipping along edges of a couple of the plates. Missing plate called for is from Vol. II. Other than stated defects, text and illustrations are clear, complete, and intact.
