The Edson - Laing Reader, Book Two, called Lend A Hand, is illustrated by James Hall and Grace L. Hall. Published by Benj. H. Sanborn & Co., 1913, New York, 159 pp., 12mo. Bound in heavy linen gray-green cloth, title runs down spine in black print, cover features illustration of 2 students reading, green background, with red border, title and publisher in black print. Corners rubbed, spine endcaps faded, no splitting. Cream endpapers are toned, as are edges of pages, but no foxing. Pages 8-11 have small marks in gulley and minor smudges seen later in book. Teacher's section and vocabulary list p. 150-159. Book is sturdy and tight with linen hinges seen front and back. This reader compiles stories based in English lore, poems, rhymes, and tales about nature, farming, and fantasy. Illustrated in black & white line drawings, some colorized.
