About the Author
C. L. Moore (Catherine Lucille Moore, 1911-1987) was a pioneering American writer of science fiction and fantasy, and one of the first women to gain prominence in the pulp magazines of the 1930s. Her early stories, including those featuring Northwest Smith and Jirel of Joiry, were noted for their atmospheric intensity, emotional depth, and distinctive blending of science fiction with fantasy and horror elements.Moore frequently collaborated with her husband, Henry Kuttner, producing a body of work that became central to the Golden Age of science fiction. Writing under shared bylines and pseudonyms, their partnership yielded some of the era's most sophisticated and psychologically nuanced stories.
