The Eights (Paperback)

Paperback. One of the premiere office buildings in St. Louis, The EIGHTS complex-actually three buildings in total-houses a little bit of everything. As Paul, the building's head of security, likes to put it, anyone who can afford to be there is there. And that very idea gets Paul and his longtime coworker and partner in crime, Terrence, to thinking.and pontificating.and postulating. Fueled by Imo's pizza, Dr. Pepper, and Evan Williams Cherry, a concept Terrence has long considered in the abstract suddenly comes into sharp, actionable focus-why not bug the building and listen? And, though Paul is the level-headed side of their philosophical duo, he can't resist Terrence entirely. In short order, listening devices are purchased and placed, and the experiment is on. Could it be true that the very best and very worst of humanity-plus everything in between-is actually unfolding simultaneously within the walls of The EIGHTS? Well.sort of. Actually, yes. And wow. When their data collection yields more than expected, Paul and Terrence's theoretical musings come to a skidding stop against an ethical brick wall. The pair must now determine what to do when they've uncovered a monster. Worse yet, what to do if they are the monsters. With a quirky cast of characters and an off-beat take on life's big questions, The EIGHTS is the story of what happens when you shine a light into the abyss.
