Very good in modern paper wrappers.nDescribes a frictional electrical machine with a glass cylinder rotated by a pulley wheel. The generator was made for Grand Duke Peter Leopold who awarded Nairne a gold medal and the sum of 1,415 Tuscan lire. The machine is now in the Museo Galileo in Florence. It generated a spark up to twelve inches, equivalent to about 170,000 volts. The two plates illustrate the machine and the battery of Leyden jars that powered it.
