Price clipped dust jacket with creasing and tearing at the edges, but mostly intact. 49 figures and 23 photographic plates illustrating state of the art at the time. Since the first edition (published in 1939), there were several passages completely re-written, and a completely new set of photographs were taken. Image of a 3,200,000 voldt Ferranti Impulse Generator on the front cover. Hard to find in the dust jacket. Cloth.
