Electronic Properties of Materials: An Introduction for Engineers

BLECK:

IEEE CIRCUITS & DEVICES MAGAZINE "The problems at the end of each chapter extend the scope of the formal text considerably and are an essential part of the book. The book has several appendices on basic physics and mathematics, which make the book reasonably self-contained and serve to refresh the reader's memory...The author also gives the economic significance of materials. For example he compares the relative costs of raw materials and products made from structural materials, specialty steels, and semiconductors. These comparisons should motivate the reader and place engineering research in its market environment...The historical and economic perspectives strengthen the book. It has some excellent chapters..."

CHOICE MAGAZINE "Hummel's book is intended as an introduction for materials and electrical engineers to the modern electron theory of materials and it will succeed admirably in that intent for superior students at the senior and graduate levels...admirably done...the book belongs in all academic engineering libraries and in many industrial libraries, particularly those of high-tech companies."

From the first edition: "All (parts) are admirably done...this text should work well for a committed instructor teaching enthusiastic students...belongs in all academic engineering libraries and in many industrial libraries."
