An Elementary Treatise on Descriptive Geometry, With a Theory of Shadows and of Perspective: Extracted From the French of G. Monge; To Which Is Added, . Projection; The Whole Being Intended as an I

Master descriptive geometry with clear, practical guidance on projections, shadows, and perspective.

This edition presents a concise, accessible introduction to turning three-dimensional forms into two-dimensional drawings. It blends foundational methods with hands-on examples, showing how precise projections reveal the shapes and positions of objects.

Descriptive geometry builds on simple ideas like projecting points onto planes, then uses those projections to determine lines, curves, and surfaces. The book also covers isometric projection, perspective placement, and how shadows help clarify three-dimensional form.

• Learn the step-by-step methods for representing points, lines, and surfaces on paper.
• See how shadows and perspective are used to convey depth and volume.
• Explore the isometric projection framework and how to read and construct it accurately.
• Understand practical techniques for graphical construction across various arts and applications.

Ideal for students and professionals who want a solid, readable foundation in descriptive geometry and its visual tools.
