With woodcut engravings in the text on almost every page (620), many showing scientific instrumentation and equipment. this 2nd edition (first pub 1863) of 1867 has been extended and thoroughly revised. It also has its colour litho frontispiece and in this edition sections on "Climatology" & "Meteorology". Original brown endpapers with the name Thomas Henry Hall, August 1867 in copperplate handwriting.Original cloth with gilt titles by Edmonds and Remnants, London. Thick heavy octavo. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.
