Elements of Alternating Currents Classic Reprint

Unlock the fundamentals of alternating currents with practical, engineering-focused clarity.

This book lays a solid foundation in inductance, magnetic flux, and energy, showing how these ideas power modern devices from transformers to motors. Suitable for engineers and students, it emphasizes concepts you can apply in real-world design and analysis. In these pages, you’ll explore how magnetic fields store energy, how inductance arises in coils, and how electromotive force is induced. The text connects theory to practice, explaining how alternating current systems operate and how to analyze common components like the simple alternator, transformers, and induction motors.

• Core concepts: magnetic flux, inductance, and energy in magnetic fields
• Practical treatment of alternating-current machines and devices
• Methods for measuring and understanding emf, current, and power factors
• Foundations for design and analysis of transformers, motors, and transmission lines

DeVon Franklin is a rarity: an African-American studio executive at the forefront of Hollywood's hit machine. He currently serves as Vice President of Production for Columbia Pictures, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment, making him one of the youngest individuals in that position in the industry, where he recently oversaw the remake of the summer blockbuster, "The Karate Kid, " starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith, which grossed over $350 million worldwide.
