Among the topics covered are organization of an army, mobilization, logistics, guards, outposts, tactics, strategy, engineering, the battle, and army administration. Captain Pettit was at one time in charge of the Department of Military Science at Yale University and developed this work as a text for Yale students. Very scarce pre-Spanish-American War item.
