This 6.0 x 9.0 inch, 1287 page softcover book is the 1949 first edition of this title, with the 1949 date on the title page. This copy is in very good condition with gentle touches of shelf-wear and handling showing to the grey-white soft cover - - with black titling and the line drawing of an elephant on the front panel. The front panel shows the residue of a three-quarter inch sticker at the top corner and a hand-stamp stating ?Natural Resources Conservation Library? also on the front panel. This is an unobtrusive stamping. The covers show sunning at the spine and around the edges. The stapling is still firm and the interior text pages are in at least very good condition and probably better - - with no markings or damage to be seen. This copy has the color picture following the title page, the famous Charles Nhal, titled ?Sunday Morning in the Mines.? The text covers mining areas and techniques and uses numerous black-and-white lithographs, sketches, and photographs from the mining era. 128 pages.
