Ella, A Tale of Love, War and Redemption

"The author's creativity takes you back to a historic time. Real page turner. Wonderful story, amazing history!" He returned home wounded in spirit as well as body but he never gave up hope that Ella would be waiting for him.

Young Civil War Veteran, Nicholas Haff, returned home from Gettysburg, anticipating a normal life with his childhood sweetheart, Ella. But he found that very little was what he expected. Not only were the people at home not how he remembered them, but he has been changed by the atrocities that he saw and lived through during his time with the 151st Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment. Suffering from PTSD, he has been filled with uncontrollable rage and self-doubt. And his beloved Ella has also suffered at home. Always believing that Nicholas was the love of her life, she waited faithfully for him but was brutalized by a man she considered a friend before he returned.

Family secrets and an unexpected tragedy rewrites everyone's path and sends Nicholas away from home again. Everyone he meets, men and women and children, have all been damaged by the violence and cruelty of the war.

His path forward to find peace and love in his life takes many unexpected turns. Nicholas's personal demons complicate matters when he finds himself immersed in other people's tragedies. Now, only his own quest to find love and self-acceptance will give him the peace he so desperately seeks.

This story is based, in part, on some of the experiences of the 151st Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment.
