Armstrong and Crocker & Brewster (No. 50, Cornhill), 1821.--- Apparent Third Edition, 24mo, bound in printed dark blue wraps, sewn, 36 pp., woodcut on title, a few pp. slightly dog-eared, moderate foxing. --- The first edition appeared in 1819 (Shaw and Shoemaker 47891) with the author listed “By an American Lady” and published by The Sunday and Adult School Union. Another edition appeared in 1820. Mrs. Marshall was the author of Sketch of My Friend’s Family and Henwick Tales. This cover of this copy states the author is “Mrs. Marshall;” whereas the title page states, “By an American Lady.” The three parts relate to teaching a young girl, Ellen, some life lessons and are: #1.
