Elm Hardware: An Honestly, Ian Book

Fred is a Jack Russell Terrier. He goes where Ian goes. Usually this is fine.
Ian’s kitchen cabinet had a broken hinge. The hinge came from Elm Hardware. Mr. Holt had been running Elm Hardware for thirty years, and he knew things. Specific things. The kind of things Ian had never thought to wonder about.
Ian started helping.
The woman who came in for caulk left without caulk. The man who came in for a cabinet hinge left with a list of measurements he needed to take first. Both times, Ian had given them the correct information.
Jade had said: just watch.
Ian had been watching. He had also been explaining.
Honestly, Ian: Elm Hardware is a chapter book about hardware stores, correct information, and the difference between knowing something and knowing when to say it. For readers ages 8–10 who like dogs, precision, and characters who mean well.
