About this Item

Rare book. Brown cloth hardcover with gilt lettering on the spine and a gilt design and lettering on the cover. Book is tight and straight. Blue wash on the paper edges. Inside has stains on the first few pages and last few pages, also some age tonning and foxing due to age inside. The front hinge is weak. Some fading to the cover and light fraying to top and bottom of the spine. Fascinating work by the famous intellectual who was one of the earliest defenders of the literary merits of WALT WHITMAN.
