Embers Rising

Long ago, the last draegion stole power from the god of chaos. Now he’s coming to take it back.

Sorceress Daeya McVen has been falsely accused of treason—a crime punishable by death. Forced to flee her home in the Sorcerers’ Guild, she has no choice but to leave her father in the clutches of her former mentor, Lucius Gregory, who seeks her newly awakened magic for his own ends.

Desperate to rescue her father, Daeya turns to the Syljians for help—only to become their most valuable hostage in the war between them and the Guild. Her one bargaining coin is the same draegion magic that Gregory covets: the ancient ability to command dragons. But without the stabilizing force of a dragonbond, the draegion’s power will consume Daeya, while controlling it requires a sacrifice she’s not willing to make.

Gregory isn’t the only one seeking the runaway sorceress. Within Daeya lies another power stolen from Anordis, god of chaos—a power he is determined to reclaim. If he does, then only Daeya’s magic will stand between him and the greater pantheon’s destruction.

Dragons emerge from exile, a traitorous conspiracy is discovered, and divine forces awaken in this second installment of Sell’s epic fantasy saga, The Last Draegion.

Cindy L. Sell supposedly lives in the Midwestern United States with a home full of furry critters, including her two boys and doting husband, but she really spends most of her time on Dessos battling sorcerers or negotiating trade deals with pirates. She graduated from Washburn University with a creative writing degree, but didn't bother to do anything with it until COVID when she ran out of excuses. When she's not writing, she enjoys bowling, crochet, and riding her '82 Sportster.
