The book features research papers presented at the International Conference on Emerging Technologies in Data Mining and Information Security (IEMIS 2018) held at the University of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, India, on February 23–25, 2018. Dr. Abraham is the founding Director of Machine Intelligence Research Labs (MIR Labs), a not-for-profit scientific network for innovation and research excellence connecting industry and academia. Dr. Abraham works in a multi-disciplinary environment involving machine intelligence, cyber-physical systems, IoT, data mining and applied to various real-world problems. He is an author / co-author of more than 1,300 research publications, including over 100 books covering various aspects of computer science. He has more than 29,000 academic citations (h-index of 80). Currently Dr. Abraham is the editor-in-chief of EAAI. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia (2001) and a Master of Science degree from NTU, Singapore.

Dr. Paramartha Dutta has a B.Stat. (Hons.) (ISI, Calcutta), M.Stat. (ISI, Calcutta), M.Tech. (Computer Science) (ISI, Calcutta) and Ph.D. (Engineering) (IIEST, Shibpur), SMIEEE, SMACM, SMIACSIT,FIETE, FIE, FOSI, LMISTE, LMIUPRAI, LMISCA. He has over twenty-five years of academic experience and is currently a Professor at the Department of Computer and System Sciences, Visva Bharati University, India. He has coauthored eight books and published seven edited books and more than two hundred papers in various journals and conference proceedings, both international and national as well as several book chapters. Dr. Dutta has served as guest editor of special volumes of international journals published by Elsevier, Springer etc.

Jyotsna Kumar Mandal is a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Kalyani, India. He is an ex-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Technology & Management and has 30 years of teaching and research experience. He is a life member of CSI and CRSI, Fellow of IETE, and member of AIRCC, IEEE and ACM. His research interests include network security, steganography, remote sensing & GIS application, image processing, and wireless and sensor networks. He has been associated with national and international journals and conferences. His more than 380 publications include 154 in various international journals. Currently, he is Director, IQAC, Chairman Placement Cell and CIRM.

Abhishek Bhattacharya is an Assistant Professor at the Computer Application Department at the Institute of Engineering & Management, India. He has published three books, 20 technical papers in various peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, both international and national as well as book chapters. His areas of research are data mining, network security, mobile computing and distributed computing. He is a member of IACSIT, UACEE, IAENG, ISOC, SDIWC and ICSES; TPC member of CICBA 2017, CSI 2017, FTNCT-2018, ICIoTCT 2018, ICCIDS 2018 and ICICC-2018; and Advisory Board Member of ISETIST 2017.

Soumi Dutta is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Engineering & Management, India. She is pursuing her Ph.D. at the Department of Computer Science & Technology, IIEST, Shibpur. She received her B.Tech. in Information Technology and her M.Tech. in CSE securing 1st position(Gold medalist), both from TIG, India. Her research interests include social network analysis, data mining and information retrieval. She is a member of several technical functional bodies such as MACUL, SDIWC, ISOC, and ICSES. She has published several papers in respected journals and conferences.
