A guide to achieving personal fulfillment reveals how to overcome self-limiting doubts, guilt, and anger to gain emotional freedom and live more fully, honestly, and happily

Emotional freedom, asserts Viscott ( I Love You, Let's Work It Out ), is the natural state of the evolved mature person. But to become so, one must discharge one's emotional debt--an accumulation of unresolved feelings from the past causing a distorted view of the present. A person's basic character type--dependent, controlling or competitive--will suggest what defensive behaviors and blind spots may develop and accrue as emotional debt. Showing the reader how to identify his or her character type, Viscott details skills for coping with hurt, anxiety, anger, guilt and depression. A discussion of creativity--the hallmark of the evolved person--wraps up the book. Encouraging emotional expressiveness as an antidote to all manner of psychological problems, which may not appeal to naturally timid or reserved types, Viscott offers sympathetic and straightforward advice.
