In Rheign's first poetry book, EMPIRES, she dives into the dark underworld of modern-day's drives & motives. The rise, peak, & fall of empires: society, culture, & its impact on mental health. Torn between what is & what are merely idyllic fantasies, Rheign uncovers the twisted truths of emotions, thoughts, & decisions of the rising generation. Rheign paints dichotomous worlds - one of happiness, bliss, & understanding, & the other of hate, distrust, & neglect. At times, she feels caught, having to choose one or the other, but she finds value in both & combines them to create her own dark & slightly misunderstood realm where pain has as much meaning as love. Written over the course of two years, Rheign lays out her experiences of dealing with mental health in the modern age. Rheign observes the patterns of past & current empires: actual rulers, people falling in & out of love, those removing the rose-colored glasses, or life itself. Exploring the depths & abysses of the world, Rheign unveils the pain behind the beauty & the beauty behind the pain.
