Rothera, a multiple environmental allergy sufferer, has pulled together important information for those in similar circumstances who wish to learn more about what they can do to alleviate or stabilize their condition. After introducing readers to the problem of multiple environmental allergies, she presents an encyclopedia of medical conditions that may be caused by allergic reactions to such things as foods, food additives, household cleaners, molds, cooking gas, and air pollution. She gives symptoms for each condition and discusses possible causes and remedies. While this book may be an important source for those wanting to self-diagnose and treat their allergies, its British emphasis limits its usefulness. This deficiency is most apparent in the resource lists of products and services for allergy sufferers. Libraries purchasing this title will also want to have Debra Lynn Dadd's Nontoxic, Natural, & Earthwise (Tarcher, 1990) . Although Dadd's book is oriented more toward promoting the use of nontoxic products that are safe for humans and the environment, its comprehensive source lists of U.S.-based companies from which to purchase these items can be invaluable for those who suffer from hypersensitivities to environmental substances.
