Encyclopedia of Climate and Weather, Second Edition: Three-volume set

The Encyclopedia provides a comprehensive history of the development of the field and provides a thoroughly up-to-date resource with additions and revisions since the publication of the First Edition in 1996. The work covers essential topics including the processes that produce weather, classification of climates, important scientific concepts used by climatologists and meteorologists, as well as the history atmospheric sciences, biographies of noteworthy contributors to the field, and significant weather events.

Dr. Stephen H. Schneider (1945-2010) was the Melvin and Joan Lane Professor for Interdisciplinary Environmental Studies, Professor of Biological Sciences, Professor (by courtesy) of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and a Senior Fellow in the Woods Institute for the Environment at Stanford University. Dr. Schneider served on the international research panel on global warming that shared the 2007 Nobel Prize with former Vice President Al Gore.

Dr. Michael D. Mastrandrea is Assistant Consulting Professor at the Stanford University Woods Institute for the Environment and a Lecturer in the Emmett Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Environment and Resources (E-IPER).
