From cultural inheritance and bodily ritual to social isolation and generational trauma, these pieces ask us to confront suffering as it is, without redemption, and often without conclusion. That, however, is our imperative: to resist tidy narratives, explore suffering in all its complexity and horror, and ask ourselves what we can do about suffering when the burden is shifted from the sufferer to the witness.
