Gr 2–5—These palm-size boxed flip books each introduce 12 animals. Endangered begins by defining the word "endangered," while Ocean Creatures starts off by discussing the millions of species found in this environment. Readers can pull the accordion-folded pages from the book's small box to see information on different creatures. When readers reach the end of the first six animals, they can flip the book over for six more. Subtle watercolors in blue and green tones display each animal in its environment. Scientific names are included, but there's no pronunciation guide. Animals include both the well known (great white shark, polar bear, giant panda) as well as the more obscure (Iberian lynx) or those with unique characteristics, such as the greater blue-ringed octopus, which contains enough poison in its saliva to kill an adult human.
