Rasheed who worked as a Systems Analyst and Process Engineer at a major Fortune 100 corporation for seventeen years before retiring in 2005. This, his third book, takes a top down approach to our energy problems. Counter to other books on the same subject, he explains in easy to understand language effective "Green" and mostly "Low Tech" ways to improve our energy efficiencies. First, he talks about the automobile and points out why they consume so much energy. Second, he explores the heating and cooling of our houses. Third, he examines our appliances. All three approached with a detailed calorie by calorie accounting of our major needs to live comfortably, safely and most of all efficiently.

H. A. Rasheed is of an Egyptian father and American mother who grew up in Egypt. He came to the United States in 1968 and graduated from the University of Oregon with Master?s degrees in Biology and Information Management. He has worked in both fields for over 25 years. This combination of fields and diverse heritage has given him the motive and experience to write three book entitled: Nuraya, Dear Desiree: Confusions of a grandfather, and How to Be Energy Efficient. He now lives in Portland, Oregon, and is married to Karen, has a daughter, Samia, and eight grandchildren.
