From School Library Journal
Grade 3-6-These series entries ask intriguing questions and provide clear, concise answers in a chatty, conversational style. The many simple projects in each book rely on easily obtained materials such as string, paper cups, coins, cardboard, bottles, balloons, coat hangers, and paper clips. The attractive format features large, bold print and colored boxes to set off chapters, subtopics, questions, and activities. Black-and-white and full-color cartoonstyle illustrations are scattered throughout. All of the experiments are indexed. Neil Ardley's "Science Book of..." series (Harcourt) covers many of the same concepts and is illustrated with photographs, but offers less discussion and background information. White's titles are appealing choices for budding scientists to explore independently or for teachers to use as classroom resources.
