More Engine Sheds in Camera

David Hucknall's well-received "Engine Sheds in Camera" (2005) presented a wide-ranging record of engine sheds and motive power depots in Britain in the 1950s and '60s. Portraits of footplate crews and shed workers were blended together with images of the buildings and locomotives on shed. In his new book, David returns to the same subject, this time including not only another selection of well-chosen high-quality black and white photographs, many of which have never previously been published, but also shed plans and extracts from contemporary logs that list engines on shed.

David Hucknall is a chartered chemist. He also loves railways, and since childhood he has recorded their history. His previous books include Signals & Signal-boxes (SPL, 1998), Surviving Signal-boxes (SPL, 2000) and Engine Sheds in Camera (SPL, 2005). David lives in Hampshire.
