Authors Carroll E. Goering and Alan C. Hansen have completed an extensive revision of this popular textbook. The text was written for students in colleges of agriculture as well as others with an interest in engines and motor vehicles. Although the primary focus is on engines and farm tractors, many of the concepts also apply to automobiles, trucks, self-propelled farm machinery, lawn and garden tractors, and other vehicles. Updates include new governmental regulations, new technological developments, and illustrations. Chapters include thermodynamics of engines, engine components, engine cycle and timing, power efficiencies, fuels and combustion, electrical systems, ignition circuits, diesel engines, intake and exhaust systems, cooling systems, lubri-cants, hydraulic systems, power trains and weight transfer, traction and safety.
