The Engineering Design Process: An Introduction for Mechanical Engineers

This book covers all facets of the engineering design process, with an emphasis on mechanical engineering and product development. It is intended to be used as part of an introductory or intermediate design project course where students actively apply concepts towards a real project. The 24 chapters cover topics from identifying customer needs, to devising and analyzing possible solutions, to producing a final product. It supports students with techniques to help manage projects and teams, along with invaluable tools, insights, and heuristics for use throughout the process. Now in its third edition, this book has been in use at the University of British Columbia and other schools for a decade, with over 1,500 copies now printed.
