This innovative module is designed to provide a foundation for the graphical communication needs of today¿s engineering student and address the requirements of instructors who want a short engineering graphics text. A five-step process is presented for modern design representation that is closely modeled after the five-step design process featured in the Toolkit module, Engineering Design and Problem Solving. Beginning with instruction in freehand technical sketching and lettering, the module then applies these basic skills to demonstrations on how to sketch and design using CAD software. Students learn just enough about the features and functionality of CAD software to support learning about key engineering graphics principles and to support the development of visualization skills. Uses the latest standards for dimensioning and tolerance.
