About this Item
An eleven volume collection of tracts, poems, essays and histories from the Tudor, Stuart and Elizabethan eras, part of a complete set of twelve. An eleven-volume work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Two articles concerning this work are loosely inserted to 'Voyages and Travel' Volume II. A scholarly collection of rare tracts, poetry, prose and other documents from the 16th to Tudor, Stuart and Elizabethan eras, first compiled and edited by Edward Arber (1836-1912) and published in eight volumes between 1877 and 1896. Here, eleven volumes of the complete twelve-volume set have been reissued in expanded form, rearranged and reclassified under the general editorship of Thomas Seccombe (1866 1923). This edition, published by Archibald Constable and Co., includes new material and fresh critical analysis from some of the finest scholars of the day. This set comprises: Critical Essays and Literary Fragments; with an introduction by J. Churton Collins (1903) Voyages and Travels, mainly during the 16th and 17th Centuries: Volumes I & II; with an introduction by C. Raymond Beazley (1903) Tudor Tracts, 1532-1588; with an introduction by A. F. Pollard (1903) Shorter Elizabethan Poems; with an introduction by A. H. Firth (1903) Later Stuart Tracts; with an introduction by George A. Aitken (1903) Elizabethan Sonnets, newly arranged and indexed: Volumes I & II; with an introduction by Sidney Lee (1904) In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart with very light shelf wear to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for some spotting to the first and last few pages, and to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 865M19
