This volume is bound in brown leather and has elaborate gilt lettering and decorations. There are 13 original albumin photographs laid in to this volume which are protected by tissue guards. The brown leather covered boards show some wear, e.g. there is discoloration, the boards are showing at the tips, and there is the beginning of a separation to the front board to the spine cover at the bottom of the joint. The gilt decoration on the boards remains bright, but there is a bit of fading to the all edges gilt at the upper edges of the leafs near the spine. The decoration of the water scene is initialed "J L." There is a note of presentation dated 1883 affixed to the front free end paper, as well as, a gift inscription on the half-title page. The gilt on the verso side of the boards has left a bit of toning to the end pages opposite to cover. There is a bit of a bend to the upper corners of the pages, but they are clean bright and there is only a spot or two foxing throughout the 191 pages of text. The pages with photos are not included in the page count. It is noted in this volume that the page numbers for illustrations opposite pages 51 and 47 are listed in reverse order on the page with the "List of Illustrations." The second free end paper appears to have been attached to the half-title page at one time and was roughly opened, additionally one leaf has a small tear at the outer edge. Seller Inventory # Sp230
