Enhancing Transatlantic Solidarity in Collective Defence: Navigating Increased Defence Expenditures, Cyber Security, and Emerging Risks

The current conflict between Russia and Ukraine has changed several views on the practical conduct of military conflict, combat doctrines, the use of military means, logistics, and communication. Not only regarding war on the ground, but also cyberwar, hacks, and attacks on networks are coming to the forefront of military activity.

The chapters in this volume stand at the intersection of the social, geopolitical, economic, and military fields. For too long, these subjects have been treated differently, even though they overlap for various reasons. Public expenditures are the foundation for all strategic planning decisions and political objectives. Economic foreign investment, on the other hand, must be viewed in the larger context of how these decisions impact the strategic regional environment.

Books in this series compile quantitative and qualitative studies in finance, insurance, and risk management. Subjects of interest may include banking, accounting, auditing, compliance, sustainability, behaviour management, and business economics.

Andrzej Soboń is Colonel of Polish Armed Forces and Professor of War Studies at the University of Warsaw. Dean of National Security Faculty and the founder of the KONSMUND – Consortium of Uniformed Universities in Poland.

Vlad Dumitrache is an Associate Professor at the Regional Department of Defence Resources Management Studies, a NATO Center for Training and Education, part of the National Defence University, located in Brasov, Romania.

Eleftherios Thalassinos is Professor at the University of Piraeus, Greece and Affiliate Professor University of Malta.

Simon Grima is the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, Professor and the Head of the Department of Insurance and Risk Management. He set-up and coordinates the PhD. , MA and MSc Insurance and Risk Management degrees together with the Undergrad degree in Insurance at the University of Malta. Simon is also a Professor at the University of Latvia, Faculty of Economics and Social Science.
