Entire Absolution of the Penitent

"Entire Absolution of the Penitent" is a sermon delivered by Edward Bouverie Pusey, a prominent figure in the Oxford Movement. Preached before the University in the Cathedral Church of Christ, Oxford, on the Fourth Sunday after Epiphany, this discourse delves into the theological intricacies of absolution and penitence within the Christian faith. Pusey's sermon offers a profound exploration of the path to redemption and the means by which individuals may attain spiritual cleansing. Addressed to an academic audience, the work reflects the intellectual and religious fervor of 19th-century Oxford and provides insight into the theological debates of the era. This edition allows modern readers to engage with Pusey's eloquent articulation of core Anglican beliefs.
