Synopsis
Kill two birds with one stone. Practice /r/ AND learn common idioms at the same time. The combination practice book is the real McCoy! It includes over 200 idioms, each with a different /r/ sound. As part of The Entire World of R™ program, it includes sections for all the different types of vocalic /r/ (AR, AIR, EAR, ER, IRE, OR), prevocalic /r/, /rl, /r/ blends and mixed /r/. As appropriate sections are divided by initial, medial and final word position for targeted /r/ practice. Each section includes exercises for Idiom Definitions, True/False, Matching, Multiple Choice, and Fill-In. All exercises will test idiom comprehension and practice /r/ articulation. All activities can be used singularly for learning idioms or for practicing /r/. Designed for middle-school, high-school and ESL students, it is age-appropriate for students eight and up. All activities are downloadable for print at-school and at-home use. These activities can be used for articulation practice for working in improving pronunciation for the /r/ sound (especially with vocalic /r/). About the Author
Sheila McGovern, M.A., SLP, received her master of arts degree and California school credential in communicative disorders at California State University, Fresno. She has been a speech-language pathologist for 21 years in various school settings working with students ranging in age from 3 to 18 years. Ms. McGovern authored The Entire World of S & Z™ Book of Stories, The Entire World of L™ Book of Stories, and coauthored The Entire World of R™ Book of Stories and Big Book of R Carry-Over Stories™. She currently resides in Sarasota, Florida. Christine L. Ristuccia, M.S., CCC-SLP, received her master of science degree in communicative disorders at the University of Redlands, Redlands, California, and a bachelor of science degree in health science from San Diego State University. Ms. Ristuccia is an experienced school-based speech-language pathologist, and has worked with clients affected by a wide range of communicative disorders. She is the author of The Entire World of R™ and is a frequent speaker at meetings of state and national speech and hearing organizations. She currently resides on Tybee Island, Georgia.
