Epistaxis: PEC, severity and recurrence

Epistaxis is one of the most frequent ENT (ear, nose and throat) emergencies. It is usually trivial, but can be serious and life-threatening. Severity may be due to abundance or repetition. Several factors can influence the severity of epistaxis, including the patient's condition, the etiology and the nature of the treatment. The clinician has an important role to play in identifying "dangerous" forms of initial or secondary epistaxis, and in initiating early, comprehensive and effective management to improve prognosis.
