This book details everything from ongoing daily activites to social interaction among horses to abnormal behaviors. Each behavior is further explained by original line drawings, photographs or both.
Sue McDonnell, Ph.D., a world-renowned equine behaviorist, started compiling the nucleus of The Equid Ethogram fifteen years ago. At the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center, she established a herd of ponies whose day-to-day existence in semi-natural conditions enabled many of the book’s original observations.
McDonnell is the founder of the Equine Behavior Program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She is known internationally for her research-based scientific approach to equine behavior.
McDonnell is the author of Understanding Horse Behavior and has contributed to numerous books and journals.
