Rotterdam, Ad Donker, 2017, 12e druk, 240 pag., echt gebonden in linnen met stofomslag (als nieuw). = Huizinga's Erasmus, voor het eerst verschenen in het Engels in 1924 en in hetzelfde jaar ook in het Nederlands, is niet alleen een historisch meesterwerk, maar getuigt tevens van het literaire talent van de auteur. Typerend is zijn beeldende manier van schrijven, hij maakt gebruik van stilistische beschrijvingen. Huizinga zet niet alleen feiten op een rij, maar is ook een echte (woord)kunstenaar die een verhaal creëert. Erasmus is een boek met een boodschap, het is een mooie constructie die je in staat stelt samenhang te zien en te begrijpen. Een kritische dialoog met een van de grote erflaters van de Nederlandse beschaving, met wie Huizinga zich bij alles wat hen scheidde toch verwant heeft gevoeld. Huizinga belicht de vele aspecten die uit het werk van Erasmus naar voren komen, temidden van het politieke en religieuze gewoel van zijn tijd was de christen-humanist en wereldburger de boodschapper van verdraagzaamheid, vredelievendheid en vroomheid. Johan Huizinga was een Nederlandse historicus (1872-1945) met een internationale faam. TERMS OF SALE
Books are in very good or better antiquarian condition, unless described otherwise. Serious defects are stated, minor defects not always. All prices are in Euro, tax included, but without postage, packing and bank charges, which are at buyer's expense. Shipping of books after receipt of payment - usually within 2-3 business days. Shipping of books outside the EU, or to commercial and institional addresses is at buyers risk. Airmail & insurance rates on request. Displayed shipping costs are based on books weight 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required. All disputes which may arise are subject to Dutch law.
We welcome direct orders and also accept WISE and Paypal payments at cost.
