For the past thirty-seven years, it has been used as the hideout for a group of Natives whose lives are complicated by warring factions and the presence of an Outsider spy. Alec and Correll soon find themselves at odds, when Alec befriends an elderly doctor and her family, and begins to suspect that Correll's secret mission will lead to the death or capture of all the inhabitants of the underworld.
