Synopsis
An Esoteric Cosmology presents Rudolf Steiner's early spiritual-scientific account of the evolution of the cosmos, the Earth, and humanity. Drawn from eighteen lectures given in Paris between May 25 and June 14, 1906, this work belongs among Steiner's fundamental introductions to Anthroposophy: a concentrated exploration of spiritual development, cosmic history, human evolution, reincarnation, supersensible knowledge, and the relationship between the human being and the universe. The Rudolf Steiner Archive notes that these lectures survive through notes by Édouard Schuré and constitute the only known record of the course.
Steiner approaches cosmology not as material astronomy, but as an esoteric account of reality in which the human being, the Earth, and the cosmos unfold through spiritual stages of development. The lectures anticipate themes he would later expand in An Outline of Occult Science, making this book especially useful for readers seeking an accessible entry into Steiner's cosmological teaching, occult philosophy, spiritual evolution, Anthroposophy, and Western esotericism. For the Sublime line, this is best positioned as a serious metaphysical and spiritual text rather than as a general New Thought or self-help title.
About the Author
Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) was an Austrian philosopher, esoteric teacher, lecturer, editor, and founder of Anthroposophy, a spiritual movement that sought to unite disciplined inner development with knowledge of the spiritual dimensions of human life and the cosmos. Educated in science, literature, and philosophy, Steiner first became known for his work on Goethe's scientific writings and for his philosophical study The Philosophy of Freedom before developing the body of spiritual teaching that became Anthroposophy. His lectures and books address metaphysics, spiritual science, Christianity, reincarnation, karma, education, agriculture, medicine, art, architecture, and the evolution of consciousness.Steiner's influence has extended far beyond esoteric philosophy. His ideas helped shape Waldorf education, biodynamic agriculture, anthroposophical medicine, eurythmy, and a wide range of twentieth-century spiritual and cultural movements. In works such as An Esoteric Cosmology, Knowledge of the Higher Worlds, Theosophy, and An Outline of Occult Science, Steiner presents a systematic vision of the human being as physical, soul, and spiritual, situated within a larger cosmic process of development. His work remains important for readers of Anthroposophy, Western esotericism, occult philosophy, spiritual science, metaphysical religion, and the history of modern alternative spirituality.
