An Essay Concerning Human Understanding. In Four Books. Written by John Locke, Gent. The Twelfth Edition. Volume I. [Containing Books I and II.] Condition: Very good. Nicely rebound in vellum, marbled endpapers. Handwritten note to front blank, pasted to back of frontispiece portrait of the author: John W. Southern, Looe, Cornwall, who rebound this vol. in June 1976. Endpapers from the BANNS BOOK pf St Martin by Looe Parish Church when it was rebound in 1975. Laid in the front is a card stating VELLUM. Bound in the medieval style with the vellum strips laced through the joint. Vellum a little grubby. Previous owner s name written to title page. Pages bright, with little in the way of tanning or foxing. Occasional stains and edge tears not affecting text. Size: 8 x 5 inches / 20 x 13 cm. 372 pages. Weight: 605g.
