Two Volumes. Hardback, approx 8.5 x 5.5 inches. Bound in full calf leather fine bindings, with gilt line paneled boards, raised banding and gilt floral decorations to spines with twin leather spine labels. Marbled endpapers and page edges. In very good condition. Some areas of minor darkening and rubbing to spines; some rubbing to raised bands and ends. Bottom leading corners bumped on vol.2. Else covers nice and smart. Inside pages all very clean, crisp and tight, no foxing or spots. Else a very good clean and tight set. ix + 467 & 531pp. Essays Include: Dr. Chalmers, Defensive Armament, Natural Theology, Military Bridges & Education, Punjab War & Indian Army, The Puritans, General Miller, & the Madchenstein.
