Essays, Lectures, Etc. Upon Select Topics in Revealed Theology

Essays, Lectures, Etc. Upon Select Topics In Revealed Theology by Nathaniel W. Taylor opens with a thorough, polemical defense of Reformed orthodoxy in revealed theology. The book discusses a mid- to late-19th-century evangelical framework, beginning with Part I: The Trinity, which argues for one God in three persons and distinguishes between phenomenal and biblical conceptions of God. It presents a five-part program to show how Scripture supports a tri-personal subsistence while reframing terms such as being and person to fit the subject. The tract then moves through doctrinal topics including justification, election and free agency, regeneration, perseverance of the saints, and the epistemology of truth, stressing divine sovereignty alongside human responsibility and urging immediate personal response to grace. Taylor employs linguistic analysis, scriptural exegesis, and historical critique to counter Unitarian criticisms and to connect doctrine with the gospel economy. The work also surveys mid-19th-century debates on original sin, depravity, and infant status, defending a balanced view of moral agency, grace, and salvation.
