Burgundy cloth boards with gilt lettering and rule on spines. Page dimensions: 220 x 139mm. Volume One: viii, 503, [4], [1 (blank)] pages. Volume Two: viii, 470, [3], [1 (blank)] pages. The second volume contains "An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding," " A Dissertation on the Passions," and "An Enquiry Concerning the Principles of Morals." Bound in at the rear of each volume are half title and title leaves for the individual volumes as volumes I-IV of the four volume set "The Philosophical Works of David Hume". The advertisement notes the 4 volumes of the set are 28s, or separately as the 2 volumes of Essays for 14s and the 2 volumes of the Treatise of Human Nature for 14s.
